Throughout the difficult early years of the Prophet's mission, when he faced great opposition and hostility, Hazrat Khadija stood firmly by his side, supporting him with her faith, her encouragement and her wealth, and being a source of strength and comfort to him, so that she was his devoted companion and his greatest supporter. The Prophet held her in the highest love and esteem, and she is honoured as one of the greatest and most virtuous of women and as the mother of the believers. Her early acceptance of Islam and her steadfast support of the Prophet in the most difficult times are remembered with the greatest honour. She was the mother of the Prophet's children. Her place in the history of Islam, as the first to believe and as the devoted supporter of the Prophet, is one of the highest honour.
