After the flood, the ark came to rest and the believers came forth to begin life anew, and it is because humanity after the flood is understood to have descended from Hazrat Nuh and those who were saved with him that he is given the title of the second Adam, in the sense that he became a new father of humanity after the great flood, just as the first man had been the father of humanity at the beginning.
